Love it. Unfortunately the wife doesn't want a SUV that big and it would be too much of a sacrifice for me to give up the truck bed on my Escalade for a SUV.

Hmmmm. Now I'm thinking about my T-Reg diesel monster and contemplating a replacement.

Interesting that they claim the 'tri charged setup' (one big turbo, one little turbo and one electric) is a 'production first'.
Seems to me that they took a very good and long look at bmw's M550d (3 litre, in for instance the x5 m50d) like they have had for almost 3 years now...With a big turbo, a little turbo and one electric (electric assisted, they have a patent somehwere). Obviously parts arent interchangeable and 100% alike but imho it's not that they've really invented the wheel....

The bmw engine btw has a far far higher specific output than the audi engine (bmw: 127hp/L vs audi: 109hp/L), but the audi engine is obviously 33% bigger.

The electric compressors/turbochargers are usually there to compensate for turbolag. They hardly give any extra top end I think. That would give huge strain on the electrical system. But it allows (especially the big turbo) to be designed for max efficiency (which automatically means a lot of lag), so a logical step in development.

Infinity dollars in the US.

When it does come here next year it may lose the diesel or, if enough folks pray to the petroleum gods, maybe there's hope we will keep it - who knows. In any case, figure pricing about like an S7 is today, which I believe is around $80k-ish with options in the US (from memory).
