I finally pulled the trigger on somewhere...or actually two places so i have back up.

Might not be the best place to eat but we wanted to visit the Plaza hotel during our stay so i thought why not try get a table there which they have so its booked. Like to pretend we are posh now and again ;-) also gives the missus an overdue chance to get dolled up. however there menu is not finalized so in case its something we don't like (wife is a fussy eater at times) then i have a table at Smith and Wollensky as back up.

i did try some of your other recommendations but they didn't have availability for that evening.....my fault for leaving it too late.

Thanks to all that have commented very excited and looking forward to our visit......so much so we booked to go to Disneyland late october!!

There are some very nice Italian trattoria's in the Times SQ theater district.

Also, lower down in Hells Kitchen or Chelsea district, there are nice places.

Depends on what you wish to eat.... to me, ratings are overrated... some of the best kept secrets are not Michelin rated.... and +1 on pizza
