Lens recommendation for Sony a6000
I'm looking for some recommendations for a replacement lens for my Sony A6000.
I'm a noob with this whole photography thing and I use it mostly for taking pics of my baby, dogs, cars, and hopefully expand to other things. I guess I want a better all rounder compared to my stock 3.5-5.6/16-50mm lens. Something with a longer zoom. Which brand/price is reasonable?

well to be honest the flexibility you're allowed with your kit lens is actually very good for only one lens. I would learn to master that lens before branching off. Long zoom lenses are either good and expensive or bad and cheap, its just a matter of varying degrees of price. Generally anything longer than 70mm is a zoom and costs less than 600-800 bucks should probably be avoided
after you feel like you've graduated from the kit either http://www.adorama.com/ISO2470.html or http://www.adorama.com/ISO247028VSZ.html are excellent all around lenses for longer zooms any of the family of 70-200mm of lenses from the major OEMS (in your case sony) are excellent choices, albeit expensive. they generally start around 13-1500 bucks for f/4 + image stabilization and go to around 2.3-2.5k for stabilized f/2.8 zooms. For any zoom if you intend to do low light anything it is worth saving for the f/2.8 version. |

While those are great lenses, spending a grand or two on a $750 camera for family shots is overkill.
If you are a noob, take a course or read a good photo book. Learn to shoot in aperature priority mode to control depth of field. Use the flash in daytime to fill shadows (may need an ad on flash). Get a prime fast lens. This is a lens tha approximates normal field of view, and is fastish: http://store.sony.com/e-35mm-f1.8-os...pfm%3Dcategory Will give you 3 extra stops of light and has higher quality glass.
