Nikon 1 J1...need feedbacks

hi, looking to get a 1J1 for the wife but wanted to see if theirs anything better at this price range (around $500)

its for the wife, so looking for something slim and cool....no DSLR cuz she doesnt know how to use it

read reviews on micro 3/4 cameras...
I thought J1 and N1 weren't that great.
I would recommend Sony Nex or olympus pen series.
I have the NEX 5n I love it.

For you price range I recommend the new nex F3. I don't think it's out yet but from the early reviews its better than the C3 and C3 is pretty awesome.

checked out the j1, nex c3, and Pen epl1

ended up with Pen EPL1...price was half of the J1 & Nex, plus it just look and feel better

i can get another lens with the spare change
