2012 Transit of Venus
Just starting this thread in anticipation of the pictures I will be uploading.
I am using an IR850 and ND0.9 with my 55-200 Nikkor, with live view to provide "composition" help and focus confirmation. 100% crop of my most detailed picture, color-corrected A few others resized to 800px Gallery is here if you want more pics of the same. Let me know if I can get you a full crop of any of them.

I'd love to view and take pictures of the transit of venus. Been getting info on it for almost a month now. Problem is, I got no gear to take photos of it properly nor the location of where I live in London UK now to offers me a nice high/elevated position to view the sunrise.
Plus it's gonna be fucking cloudy......... FML |

We live on a cosmic dust mote. We are insignificant in the extreme. I'm totally amazed we're still habitable.
Great pics, btw.

Thanks all!
Just wanted to add, liveview really surprised me this time. I was able to see the sun clearly with the IR filter on. I guess that goes to show how much IR the sun actually gives off, since the hotmirror is supposed to eliminate >98% of it. If I didn't stop down so much, I would have been able to take some shots at 1/4000.

Congratulations on a great shot of the transit. Just as good as the NASA shot from Mauna Kea
