Some of the guitarists mentioned are great technicians, but haven't really changed the way guitar music sounds. That takes a creative spark as well as technical brilliance. Hendrix changed guitar music forever. So did Pete Townsend and so, in a very different but just as fundamental way, did Keith Richards. You could probably put Clapton, Beck, Page, Van Halen and the Edge in there too.
and while not at the same level as these other guys, a good excuse for a fond RIP to Ronnie Montrose... |

Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee for top sologuitarists. Both are well known from Ozzy Osbourne band at '80s. If we spoke about rhythm guitarists there is some guys like James Hetfield, Tony Iommi, Jon Schaffer, Scott Ian and Hank Shermann.
