Man, this thing is ugly. I guess it's built to get the job done though.

If a forum member did this to his M3 "just because"...

The good old days would also include Alfa Romeo and Opel.

Here are some renders of the new A5 DTM car.

Not much evidence here that the DTM forumla has undergone change for next season. And frankly that is fine with me since we have Lemans and ALMS for production-based racing series. I'd love to see some pictures of the monocoque CF chassis and such - I'll bet it looks breathtaking under the covers.

Good they are switching from sedan to coupe (not that it will effect the looks of the car, really). But, it should be RS5 though, IMHO. Why not prop up your perf brand like BMW is with the M3? Imagine what we'd all be saying if the topic of this thread was "And now I present you with the 328i DTM car...". Just doesn't have the same impact, right?

Anyway, I'll bet that Mercedes goes C class coupe now too, and hopefully they just call it a C63.

.
I think the aero package has had a pretty significant change, the way the rear wing on the M3 and A5 is attached if very different to the current cars, also the multiple wings behind the wheelarches have gone, the diffusers also look longer and poke out further.

I hope more manufactures join in, I have read that Nissan is going to enter with the GTR, I'd also like to see Alfa return.

Could very well be, but I consider those minor changes. Thing is, there was some talk of a fairly major refocusing of the series to cars using a more production-based chassis than the current to-spec tubular space frames. I guess a CF monocoque + tubular f/r subrames is new (?) (ala GT500 ??), but the car remains very much purpose-built with nothing obvious jumping out at me as "production-like".
