New respect for diesel after Audi wins Le Mans
I was _very_ impressed with Audi's TDI at Le Mans...
I hadn't really given diesel a lot of thought, but now I'm thinking this is something I probably want in the near future. * Torque * Fuel efficiency * Speed * Quiet (I kid you not - VERY quiet) * No smoke * Did I mention torque? Looks like Peugeot is coming to Le Mans with a diesel next year... http://motoring.co.za/index.php?fArt...751&fSetId=381 Of course these are exotic engines but I'm still suitably impressed. |

Ya, the R10 is a pretty sweet car. The technology in it is awesome. I think a lot of people in motorsport are taking a second look at diesels because of it. Opening up a lot of peoples eyes.

Ya, I do realize they probabably got some help from the rules. I still think it's quite an achievement for them though. Especially from an engineering point of view.

diesel's been around for a long long time
it's cool that Audi decided to bring diesel power into the front lines, but diesel would seem to be an ideal motor for endurance racing since everythings built so heavy and they get better mileage |
