Well I'm off tomorrow for Santa Barbara to pick up my new X1, so much to everyone's delight I am sure, no birds, trains or cats for a while from me
I will leave off with a shot of my two little panthers on the floor, with Carl being in the foreground, Lenny behind. They will have to take care of the house for a couple of days! (They probably will barely notice). Shot using the Fooj X100. 20130420-DSCF0355 by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Oh man, you got me drooling...
I just got back from Slidell after a weekend of oysters and mudbugs. (Waiting on the gout to kick in). Great capture of the spirit. Dave

Tough shoot there. It was a department alumni picnic that I was asked to shoot. Bright, drizzly day and we were under a pavilion roof where it was quite a bit darker. No walls, so every shot was brightly backlit. No fun trying to get a balance. I opted for about +1 EV and just cropped out as much background as I could on each shot. So far, so good.

Shot looks pretty good to me Mark. I don't much care for them myself, but have spent plenty of time in the south where everyone swears by them. I will have some more shots of the new ride soon. After I got home last night, I tried to start processing a bunch, but quickly realized I was too exhausted to be any good at it, and called it.
Here is a quick Iphone snap. I'm going out to play with my Car |

Nice. Although that shot shows some corner distortion. Probably an inherent issue with the iPhone. Your wheels look like they're falling off.
How does it handle? I need to go see one in person. I can't tell how big it is. My X5 is showing signs of age. Last week I got a warning that the DSC and AWD failed, although it was gone the next time I drove it. I keep getting intermittent "Check Rear Lights" warnings as well. Once the electrical gremlins start, it's time to get rid of the car.

For driving back from Santa Barbara to the Bay Area though, it met all my expectations. Nice quite cabin, the AC held up to 90 degree weather just fine, and the HK stereo is certainly adequate to my 48 year old ears. I realize the X1 styling is not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it is perfect. I need a hatch type vehicle, as I am an amputee and use a wheelchair part time, so I need easy loading and unloading. Also the lack of a manual is not relevant to me as my manual shifting days are sadly over. Overall, I got a great deal on the perfect vehicle for me so I am a happy camper |
