Never knew this was here. I worked in the wine industry for over 10 years! I no longer do but I do still have connects. Feel free to ask about wineries in Sonoma & Napa County and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions if I can or point you in the direction of aomething excellent you may have never heard of

Having lived in Germany for a number of years, I've developed a taste from local wineries. I am very fortunate to have a local German winery less than an hour away. A perfect Summer day ride.

I ran a winery for 3 years or so, and what I learned, no one is an expert lol (our winemaker was right off the hills of France, amazing Champ....errr sparkling wine...he was very humble)

We like red wines and look for amazing "bang for the buck" ones. We found Scaia Corvina recently...its not the best bottle wine we've had, not close, but its a solid bottle under $13.

and we enjoy Stag occ. good stuff. Had their Petite Sirah recently

I see all the Rieslings in here...are they sweet, off dry or dry? My favorite is off dry, there are a few places here in Sonoma County that do off dry Riesling & Gewürztraminer. There is even a spot I know that has a dry Moscato! That one is real good

This one is a 2 on the Prädikatswein category; similar to a Kabinett. When I can get my hands on them, I love the sweeter Spätlese and Auslese for sipping.

Opened a bottle of 2014 Lokoya Mt. Veeder at Abe & Louie’s last night. We really enjoyed it but it will wait 5-10 years before opening another.

Anybody tried or like casa lapostolle cabernet sauvignon? Good value wine from Chile.
The winery own by a family from France.
I used to drink it. However, the local shop doesn't carry it anymore.

Seven Deadly Zins 2016 Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi) - had this Friday night.

Not a wine expert at all but like a good Zinfandel, and this was very good.

Have enjoyed several cases of the 2018 LUKE Cabernet from Columbia Valley. Though young it’s still drinks we’ll today after a decanting. At right around $250 a case it’s a great wine for parties. Maybe even good enough for a primary bottle. Very good and readily available.

Review here https://www.winemag.com/buying-guide...wahluke-slope/

Finally cooling off enough here to want a red. I think maybe we have opened 1 bottle all summer. And I blame Mrs for that one! Sounded tasty tonight, so went with this. The Reserve is far tastier than the regular cab. Yum!

That’s a good one. Visited their winery last year. Good stuff but pricey as hell. The ones they sell at Costco are decently priced. There was a good bottle that I liked (something named after a lion) and it was like $192. 😆

Great to see a recent post to the wine thread!

Brought a couple of bottles to Curate in Asheville for dinner with family earlier this month. I think it’s the first time my in-laws ever really took a vacation and the first time I saw my dad in 3 years, so packed up a couple of pretty good bottles for the trip. Not pictured: the gin that went with that can of tonic.

I enjoy quite a few wines from Paso. Fully plan on getting to Daou the next time we are in the area!

Stopped drinking wines when COVID hit, ended up switching to Tito’s with mixers all pandemic. Can’t really explain why but I know my blood pressure got worse and I gained weight.
Now as “fall” starts in Florida I’m having my first glass of red and plan to return to wine.

Am I nuts to think the way I do?

Yes, very good. Bottle was a gift from by BIL so not sure exactly what it cost but guessing in the $100-$125 range.

That said, the Sena (same price range) was better. I really enjoy that wine.
