Work Boots

[Red Bread]

Wolverines, Red Wings and Rancourts. All made in the US and either Goodyear or Blake welted. My RW's had the hardest break in but are the most comfortable now.

bought these from the RedWing store. Made by Rocky. being a Pipeliner/Operations these are 800 thinsulate, steel toe and slip resistant. Helps that the company pays $250 for boots every year tho these run about $300 so I pay the difference. very comfortable especially when you put the Dr Scholl's for more heel/arch support

I looked at Red Wing and to be honest, the look versus the price....I just can't do it. Some of the ugliest foot wear I've ever seen. Not knocking their quality as they have a reputation for comfort and durability but style has to come in somewhere when I'm buying shoes and they simply don't have it in the styles that I looked at of theirs.

I owned a pair of Brahma's when I was working on the road and job site we worked on required steel toes and we weren't informed before we got there. Those things had some spots inside that rubbed my foot and ankle so badly i couldn't hardly wear them. I donated that pair to Good Samaritans as soon as I got back home and got to my Timberland steel toes.

Work will pay for $40 of the cost of our shoes here which is why I've ended up with so many pair of trainers. The only requirement here is non-slip due to the floor constantly being wet as we are a bottling facility. If they paid more than $40 I'd have a serious collection. Funny that I've never thought about it but not sure if there is a cap on how many pair they allow a year, I just turn in the receipt and my next check has an extra $40 on it.

I hate Doc Martens, but they are really bad if you have arch issues.

I owned one pair of Wolverine's a few years ago that had thinsulate in them. I really liked the boots but I do remember the heel on them being really hard and unforgiving. I'll look back at wolverine, had forgotten about them. Thanks!
It may be due to my industrial/grunge phase in the 90’s but I’ve always had love for Doc Martens. I honestly can’t think of a time in the past 30 years when I haven’t had at least one pair in my closet. Even when I wore a suit and tie to work everyday I had a pair of their dress shoes I wore with my brown/earth tone suites. I got compliments on them almost every time I wore them.

Never heard of Hytest but just looked them up. I'll be doing some research on these. I like their styles and the price is in my range. Liking the Footrests 8".

Holy shit! I just checked out their product catalog. Those guys are damn serious about their boots. Wow. Seem like they are geared more toward specialized industries though, may be too much of an overkill for what I need. Thanks for the recommendation though, I'm actually kind of impressed with their stuff.

I've owned a pair of Rocky's before, I do remember them being extremely comfortable. I may go this route again.

It will be a month or two before I pull the trigger so I definitely have some options to weigh. Thanks for all the input everyone!

I wear the red wing dynaforce steel pull ons and i used to wear the ariats steel toe pull ons. Both were pretty comfortable, both had about the same lifespan (1.5-2yrs 50-60hr work weeks/75% ish in the field) and both had the same waterproofness.

Since switching to pull ons about 6 years ago from lace-ups, i couldnt be happier. easy to get on/off, you dont get shit falling into your boot as much, or water flowing over the top, and they are comfortable.

Best advice though is, no matter what boot you get, go get some custom fitted insoles.

Agreed, my irish setters are comfy as hell minus the first few days of break in. Steel toe, water proof, look great, not to heavy, non-slip, warm in the winter not to hot in the summer.

I am a red wing fan, they are the great and the Red Wing stores keep records on what you bought what size etc. They also will 'work' on the boots.

Ya dude they are Red Wing off brand, and they'll oil the boots every 6 months for you.. Pretty sure I got these ones. Used in oilfield with all sorts of chemical spills on them and were still going strong after 2 years (free boots every year so got a few pairs)

Up here in the rugged Pacific Northwest we jacks take our work shoes seriously especially felling as many as 30 Douglas Fir a day. Its hard work to say the least and its tough on the old tootsies. So me and my crew wear Pussies. There isn't a jack up here that doesn't wear them. They come in many nice colors and extra wide widths too. And if you're working the rig line you can get gloves to match. Thats a nice touch don't you think? Just remember it takes a few days to break in a pair of Pussies so go easy at first then they'll fit just right.

You're welcome. I own 2 pairs of different types of them and be absolutely pleased with them. Comfort, durability, safeness and overall appearance are unbeatable for me. We have an outlet of them not far away, makes it more easier for me to pay them a visit and look at the newest editions.

Uvex S3 boots, seem very similar to Haix boots, similar price too. Must be the German way... well, clearly everyone here approves of German products

I was working as a site engineer at the time, over winter I got fed up with wet socks and being constantly uncomfortable. Got a pair of these Uvex's and I was perfectly comfortable through anything... standing in puddles like it ain't shit.
