I'm curious between the wheels, leather/heated seats, BOSE and LSD how much heavier the Performance Trim will be.

She mentions the base price starting at "about" $30K, my guess is more like $35,995...

Freight/destination adds to lets say 31.9k base price, brings it ballpark to 35k, add taxes and other stealership fees and you're @ 40k.

I think that she just completely misspoke, twice. Dan Passe, Nissan NA's Director of Corporate Communications has already stated that it will start around $40k USD. I'll take his word over what a product specialist at an auto show says.

I could see maybe $38k MSRP for the Sport (base) model, but I believe that all models will come in north of $40k. Would be nice if I'm wrong.

I believe Dan Passe rather than some girl who claims to be a product specialist.... sheesh.

The reality is in these days, even at 40K, this is going to be an amazing deal, especially if you can get one without dealers markups...

She's a bit of tubby at ~3600lbs but that never scared me in college.

If I wreck my f80 at the track I'll have some good/cheap fall back options...Z, GR86 and Miata.

I agree: unfortunately the new Z is a real porker. It weights as much as my M235i despite being an impractical toy in comparison (horrible rear visibility, only 2 seats, small trunk). I hope the engine will somewhat make up for it.

Dan confirmed this morning on nissanzclub forum that the price will start around $40,000 and the comments made by the product specialist were in error.

So the product specialist wasn't much of a specialist? I have no problem with this as $40k is a fair starting price for a RWD of this power level. The $35k rumours were wishful thinking.

I agree. I think the car has real potential but it doesn't exactly make sense considering my M2 weighs a shade less and has a full sized back seat. If I'm going to get a true 2 seater then it needs to be lighter than this thing to get a garage spot.

NEW YORK – Nissan revealed the all-new 2023 Z sports car in a global broadcast from Brooklyn’s Duggal Greenhouse, about five miles from where the original 1970 Datsun 240Z made its world debut in October 1969.

"When we introduced the Z in 1969, the Z was a revolution. Since then, for more than 50 years, Nissan has brought style, speed, reliability and so much more to millions of enthusiasts around the world,” said Ashwani Gupta, representative executive officer and chief operating officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

While the six previous generations of Nissan’s iconic sports car all offered numeric designations, the long-awaited redesign will be known in the United States simply by just one letter – Z.

The 2023 Z offers a sleek, attractive exterior with a silhouette that shows respect for the original model – with a long hood and low rear stance. Inside, the driver-centric cockpit includes a 12.3-inch customizable racing-inspired meter display, available leather-appointed sports seats and 8-speaker Bose® audio system.

All 2023 Nissan Z models are equipped with a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and choice of 6-speed manual transmission with motorsports-inspired EXEDY® high-performance clutch, or a new 9-speed automatic transmission with aluminum paddle shifters.

"The Z has always been an accessible sports car – always placed at the intersection of aspiration and attainability – of dreams and reality. This latest iteration is now ready to thrill Z enthusiasts, and create a whole new generation of Z fans as well, when it comes to market here in the U.S. early next year,” said Gupta.

The 2023 Z is offered in Sport and Performance grade levels and a special "Proto Spec” edition, which is limited to 240 units.

All okay apart from the crate stack grille.

I like that double blue. I feel yellow makes the front end look too cartoonish.

If the top-specs manual version ends up costing $55-60k Canadian, it will be hard for me to rationalize this car over CT4 Blackwing which starts at 65k. Maybe if the Nissan can convincingly beat Cadillac's surprisingly slow 5-60mph rolling acceleration time of 5.3sec (which is the most reallife-like measure of car's performance).
