Missed 2. Didn't have the ability to make a mix-tape, though had friends do it for me, and no myspace account.

More frustrating was when you screwed up and had to start over (beer may have been involved). It took forever to dial my girlfriend's number. It was almost reason enough to break up with her and get a girlfriend with a "shorter" phone number. Well, I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. We got married in '72 and just celebrated our 52 year anniversary.
I think this may have been mentioned before, but you're old when you had a party line (we did) and an exchange, instead of 7 numbers; ours was OXbow 62842. We also had a rotary until the wasn't a surcharge for the "tone phone" (can't remember the actual term).

We got married early 1977, so coming up on 48 years.

I just Googled it and the average length of a marriage in the US is only 8 years! My wife and I aren't as far along as some of you, but will be celebrating our 39th this year.

When I was a kid, we didn't have any fancy body wash. We all had to use the same bar of soap our dad washed his ass with. And if we swore, we got our mouths washed out with the same bar of soap.

I remember my childhood number because it STILL gets me a discount at Vons, where my mom registered it. Best thing: no spamming!!!!

My current number is the only number I DO remember. Everybody else I know... family, friends, etc are in my contacts in my phone; like the little phonebook you used to carry around with you. Would be lost without my phone because I, literally don't know/remember anybody else's number.

You know you're not quite as old when you can still remember your childhood phone number and tail number on your old man's 1960's airplane but not what you ate for breakfast this morning.....

All but the MySpace account like a few others. I still do a few of these: listen to CDs, send postcards, use a paper map and still use a dictionary from time to time.

Congratulations! In this day and age... Ours is similar; along with our birthdays, we celebrated our 45th last week.

We had party lines in the early 50s. I was just a kid, but I think they worked because people didn't use phones all that much back then. As far as long distance went, the cost was so much that we only used it when necessary. Many probably don't know, but you could listen in on the conversations other households on the party line were engaged in, and no one knew. I think it was only some of us kids who did that!

I could remember my mid-50s phone number until a few years ago. My memory is beginning to go, so when I can no longer remember the one we had in San Francisco's Inner Richmond District in 1959, BAyview-13871, I'll know it's time for Plan B.

It's gone now, but for many, many years I could rattle off the rifle number of my M14 rifle from Marine OCS in 1966 but couldn't do the same for the different M14 I had in 1968. I've also forgotten my Marine Corps service number. I guess I've been thoroughly de-Corpsed.

As far as childhood phone numbers, those are all long gone from my memory; we moved so often that we had many numbers.

Thanks a lot. My mom used to wash our mouths out with soap when we said something naughty. (maybe happened once or twice) It never crossed my mind where that bar of soap had been until NOW. I am officially forever damaged.
