Question Camera thoughts? Canon EOS Rebel T3

I know you guys probably hate people coming in here asking these questions but I am going to do it anyway

I am thinking of possibly picking up the Canon® EOS Rebel T3 DSLR tonight for some black friday savings.

I am by no means a great photographer and the pictures you all are taking are amazing. I am looking for something that can take some high quality pictures that I could eventually mess around with but I dont want to spend a ton of cash on a camera right now. I have been taking pics with my iphone and they always looks like shit! Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The T3 is a great starter camera, it'll be a night and day difference from taking pics with your phone.

and grab the 50mm 1.8 lens to go with it, it's cheap and a million times better then the 17-55 lens that comes with the camera (unless the kit camera is different on that camera) but it lacks vividness and contrast and is just a very flat looking lens. Still better then an Iphone though.

If you have the available funds, spend a little more cash and get the T3i. I bought one a few months ago and absolutely love it.

I would likely recommend the T3i as well, it's a little more sturdy feeling and shoots a little better, and the price isn't too much more. I remember holding the T2i for the first time and thinking (when i got my T1i way back when) damn, this thing feels a million times better then what i just bought 2 weeks ago.

but again, watch out for what lens comes with these cameras, you might be better off buying the body only and a different lens, or trying to find a different kit lens then the base one.

I actually have yet to take any night shots with my T3i. I spend most of my nights in my room studying lol. I might be able to go snap a few pics tomorrow night, if you'd like?

OP, I saw your post that you deleted. The main difference between the T3i and the T2i is that the T3i has a flip out LCD screen. If you could live without that, go for the T2i. You'll be much happier with that over the T3.

the swivel screen is nice, it allows you to get low shots very easily. Very much worth consideration.

I would also pick T2i over T3, i've purchased bottom of the line before in cameras... I ended up getting a new camera about 3 months later because I couldn't deal with some of the poor functionality.

I like having a dial for aperture and a dial for shutter specifically and such. It's necessary to me, but if you don't shoot in manual often, that may not be as necessary.

the T2i would be the lowest I would go personally in the Canon lineup. I had the T1i, and enjoyed it, but it was lacking.

I agree with what The1 is saying. The T3 is a good starter camera but like he said, it lacks. T2i will give you more of what you want. Here's how I look at it...In my opinion, I think you should go with the T2i. You might not be sure how to work it from the start but you'll grow into it. I'm afraid if you buy the T3, you might regret it later for whatever reason. I would hate to see a thread two months from now saying, "Got bored of the T3 and picked up a T2i."

Congrats!! I got the t3i but in need of a new (better) lens. My friend got the t2i a few weeks ago and he loves it, hes got a 50mm f/1.4 canon lens. I want to get the same lens, it really makes the camera shine. The lens that comes with the kit isn't as great but it sure is better than an iphone camera

(this is the lens http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Autofocus.html)

Chewy said it. We don't have the best weather out here. Sorry man.

But I'm gonna order that 50mm f/1.8 lens as well. But I can't decide which zoom lens I should get, the 18-200mm or the 55-250mm. I'm leaning more towards the 55-250mm.
