You should seriously consider the Canon Elph series then...as they are perhaps the best portable camera with the greatest image quality. Anything bigger than an Elph, in my opinion, isn't truly compact.

Aaaahhh, the IXUS if you are from Europe.... My GF has one - its pretty good but a bit.. well.....girly.. Do they have good enough resolution? My GF's is only 4MP and no zoom.
