I actually prefer my Miele to my Dysons. I wear Etymotic ear plugs when I use my Dyson, fugger is stupidly loud. The Dyson does suck slightly better, but it's annoying as hell.
Also sold my Dyson stick for a Shark. The Dyson stick body is so big it isn't of any use in a car, and again, it sounds like a pre-hushed Lear Jet. Also worth noting, I bought a Shark with two batteries and a charger that will charge both concurrently. You can't even replace the battery in stupid Dysons, much less run two.
I tend to use the Shark cordless to suck up the five animals worth of hair from our two animals on the hardwoods, then do a pass with the Hoover cordless wet vac. For carpet, it's the Miele unless the family is gone and I don't mind wearing ear plugs.
