Well I bought mine used to test drive it before buying new (I tend to do that, so that way if I end up not liking it I don't lose a ton, used I'll get practically what I paid).
That said its my first IWC and I love the simplicity and subtlety. I also own a rolex explorer, not much of a fan of shouty watches. And this IWC is making my rolex explorer (one of the simplest rolex models) seem shouty lol. I'm quite liking the brand and the fact I can answer "what kind of watch is that" with "IWC" rather than "rolex" since most people give a raised eyebrow at the latter.
In regards to vintage IWC, I try to avoid all that random stuff on ebay that goes cheap (same with Jaeger LeCoultre, Ulysse Nardin, and some others.) As they aren't really much of anything unless they have historical significance like the IWC mark series or JLC Deepsea stuff of vintage, but that gets expensive. Basically 90's forward is going to get you pieces worthwhile with these Richemont owned brands.
