Stay as close to downtown as possible. Tours usually leave from there along with other attractions. The Blue Lagoon is a bit away but tour buses can take you there. I feel like the best thing to do would be to rent a car and drive around the island. You can do the Ring road and visit some of the attractions. The rest such as Northern Lights can be booked with tour companies. For the lights, tour operators usually allow you to come back at no extra charge a few times if you don’t see the NL the first try.

Iceland has good nightlife and is huge on beer. So wander around, drop into a pub and try things. It is expensive so just heads up on that. It was expensive when I went in 2015, and I’d imagine it being much more expensive now.
