Murf993 hit the nail on the head with his response. I don't know that I would have punched her twice; I might have applied downward pressure. I can't say because I wasn't in that situation. It's much different when you're actively involved rather than standing on the sideline.
Let me paint another picture. What if her kick had connected with that officers knee and blown it out, causing him to be IOD'd for 6+ months and requiring surgery?!?! That's what happened to one of my partners last July. He's still out of work. The situations were very similar.
