Yes, that is exactly what is happening.
But such is the nature of trchnology innovation.
A chair was a chair for thousands of years made of many things, but you owned one until it broke or you found one you liked better.

And then someone came along and said: let me put a pressure sensor in the seat and back and measure how people sit on it. And boom, a wooden chair that was just fine for 40 years until it broke, becomes disposable after a few months because every 6 months someone comes up with a ew way to interpret the sensor data and stuff more sensors onto it and link it to your watch, poke you in the back to sit up straight etc etc. And everyone wants to have the 2023 edition. So millions of chairs go to waste every year.

But such is progress. None if us.car enthusiasts want to drive Model T because it was so great at physical driver involvement.
