Bumer, thanks for the well wishes......and Nike+ shoes aren't a must. You would have to purchase a pouch for one of your shoes and put the sensor in it. A Nike + shoe has a sensor holder under the left insole. If you already have a iPod or iPhone you're ready to go. Don't rush to get back....take time to heal and rediscover the freedom of the run
