When I was on ED, I was going along about 110 MPH in an unrestricted zone. A clown car looking van full of German police got in front of me and pulled me over. I thought I had missed a sign signaling the end of the unrestricted zone and they were going to nail me for speeding. Turns out they just wanted to check my registration as the tourist plates are uncommon. They asked me “you take this car with you when you leave Germany in airplane?” I just said “yes, umm, sort of”. They seemed confused and let me go. This was up near Berlin so they probably weren’t as familiar with ED cars.
