Luckily I was close to home. If not I could have used the can of "goop" ie mobility kit. I also cary a tire plug kit with all my cars and in the past sometimes have been able to plug the tire until it can be replaced. It depends on how bad and where the puncture is. If all else fails I would call BMW Assist and have the car flat-beded to the dealer. My dealer is very generous about loaners.

Before we discovered the wheel was bad I had a loaner from the dealer. I elected to drive on my snows because the wheel took longer to get than the tire.

Actually this is the first time a plug hasn't worked adn my puncture was too large to use the goop.
