I believe the story goes, at one point Jeff was feeling crushed and ready to give up on the project and his wife wouldn't let him. She put pressure on him to not accept failure and to keep his drive to succeed. Just one year later Amazon was funded and moving beyond a concept. That was the point when she started to get behind the business and help him anyway she could. His success would not have happened without her. I don't think he had a single qualm about leaving her wealthy after the divorce. They honestly did it together.
