Unfortunately, mine is all back together. This is an older air box but it’s similar to this, rectangle in the corner of the box spring loaded etc. It appears some people think it only opens if the intake tube gets clogged.

I think as long as there is filtered material between that trap door and your engine / MAF you'll be okay.
