I took in my wolfhound, shaggy, almost two years ago. It was very sad for me to feel the life disappear from him, but he had cancer and that's that. Can't let them suffer, they don't know what they've got.

We lost one of our bunnies a week and a half ago, my wife and three year old cried. But as we buried him (everyone gets a dignified treatment around here after they go), my 3 year old learned a lot about love and loss, and she acted it out later with a stuffed animal. She asked me to cry and she consoled me as I pretended to weep. Pets teach us while they live, and then they teach us more when they die.

The picture was taken before his last trip to the vet (snif).
