There was a British publication that posted last year that M2 production for the UK would still be done at Leipzig.

With regard to the manual transmission i don’t think it is difficult for the production line in any plant to be set up to install two different transmissions in a car.It would be great though if the manual was only manufactured at Leipzig. |
I think part of the reason for having the assembly plant in Mexico is to save labor costs. It is likely also for tax reasons. That means that the price might need to be higher for a German assembled car sold in America. I don't think that they'd go down that road, but who knows.
