It sounds like you’re saying he’s in over his head once he realizes how much work it really entails. I disagree he sounds like he knows exactly what he’s getting into AND knows what he’s doing.

I would agree. If he's got polishers, etc then he's the kind of person who enjoys doing this kind of thing. I ceramic coated my new CS and it was a lot of work (prep really). It was an enjoyable time away from my usual computer technology job. iPad with music and a Bluetooth speaker and time alone.
