i have seen pictures of (admittedly american market) cars that do not have idrive and yet do have the cupholder. according to jeremy clarkson, americans need extra and huge cupholders for their buckets of coca cola, so you may be right that its just for them.
so for us then, as an accessory, its probably priced very competitively at only $399 isn't it? (installation extra)
