I have a theory. A large percentage of the population lives in trailers(mobile homes that never move). This type of housing is mostly glued together. The relentless sun releases the fumes from the glue. So citizens of the sunshine state are in a continual glue huffing high.

Add to that snowbirds and others that move to FL are completely unaccustomed to this never ending sun exposure and it literally fries their brains. This leads to unexpected actions from individuals that left in a normally sunny environment would never do.

Evidence that this theory is sound comes from the fact that southern FL is less prone to lunacy. Latins have a long association with incredibly sunny locales, and have less propensity to live in trailers.
