my $0.02. It came down to capacity for me. I occasionally cook for large (~200) groups and just needed something bigger. I have a Yoder YS640 pellet smoker. Even if I didn't cook for big groups, fitting 3 racks of ribs or even a decent size brisket is challenging on most ceramic grills. My father in law has a Primo XL which is oval shaped and ribs and brisket fit on his. I love my Yoder, set and forget, large capacity, but also is convenient for smaller cooks, plus the direct grill option is cool for searing. Had I gone the ceramic route, I probably would have done the Prime to fit the larger cuts.
I know your discussion has mainly been on ceramics, wanted to through pellet grills out there too.
