Put in some pee pads. You can always take one for the team and set an alarm to change the pads out during the night at least once. Plus getting him out for even just a few minutes while doing that would comfort him.
Just limit his food intake before crating him, and only have water available.
It's just a minor inconvenience, but will score major points with your daughter!
