So this is something I've been interested in trying for years! I recently opened a rather large fruit and the seed was already cracked and sprouting! Which if you've read up on these, that's one of the most difficult tasks. So I decided to clean it off and Transplant it into a starter pot. I already know it may never yield Fruit. But it still makes for a really nice Houseplant. Stay tuned...
Sprouting is the easy part. When you try to transplant, and hope the roots don't die off, now THAT is tough. I think it took me literally a dozen trees, of varying degrees of maturity, before I got one to reach the point of actually producing fruit. I'd go out, notice suddenly all the leaves were gone on a tree, and with a slight pull on the trunk the whole tree came out of the ground.

The trick, I learned from a local with a bunch of fruit-producing trees, was a rusty nail driven into the trunk.
