Thats American Wagyu, which is a cross between Japanese Wagyu and typical American cattle.

Theres a lot of controversy on the terms "Kobe" and "Wagyu", and they get thrown around to make the suggestion of quality on a given product, which isn't always the case.

Now, if you source some Japanese Wagyu from the Miyazaki region of Japan, thats something to write home about. But thats also somewhere around $300/lb.

Also, I'm not questioning the quality of the steak that KenB925 purchased, I'm sure it was amazing non-the-less
Yes, it was very good, but as I said before, I don't think it was quite as tender as the last prime ribeye steaks I bought. Juicy, yes, the marbling was very nice.

They also had Wagyu tri-tip that is tempting, but prime is pretty difficult to beat. The Wagyu Tri-Tip is $19/lb
