We bailed out the auto industry a couple of times and they paid us back. Tesla is getting subsidies or tax incentives to buyers but that applies to any EV I'm not sure if there's a rule it has to be produced here but probably it is as the Chinese built Tesla's are sold there but that market is huge and can support it. If they create Chinese jobs they are supported. In the past they had to partner with Chinese companies but the rules may have changed because of the negotiations due to the tariffs.
