I am looking to order some roof bars and bike carriers to go on top of my new X1.

Has anyone bought the BMW bars / bike carrier or tried any of the Thule etc bars and bike options on their X1?

I did not want to pay for the towbar and bike rack option as it was £1k for the pair and I just couldn't justify that on top of the other options.

The local BMW dealership has quoted me £384 for roof bars and 2 bike carriers so I'm looking for any experiences that you may collectively have.
