In World Champion James Hunts hey days he did well as a Brit and was fearless against the might of Ferrari and Lauda at the time not backing down from his quest to achieve his goal, even when his great rival Lauda was nearly killed at the Nordschleif, it gave him a chance at the title when James was cheated out of the 9 win points he lost at Brands after winning fair and square, just for getting his stricken car back for repairs using a short cut when the race was red flagged.
Who in their right mind would travel the long GP circuit with a car that had damaged suspension and wheels that was likely to cause more delays to the race if it fell apart on the long section.
