In the last decade I had to pass some physical fitness tests related to my level of referee certification for soccer. Included both sprints as well as timed distances. I had no issues even at my "advanced" age relative to all the other candidates. But as evidenced by the information above, I have always LOVED to run. I don't ref any longer, in part because I so much prefer to PLAY soccer.

Near the end, my mother had a very limited range of motion, but she still loved (at least I seemed to think) to hear about me running. The vision I had of her after her death was her being free to move around again, with way more flexibility than she ever had during her life.
