Praise God, an actual car-related thread and not another thread about how to look and smell like a girl.
speed: 208 mph
car: Superformance GT40 Mk II
engine: John Kaase Ford SOHC 8.2 liter FI, 13.2:1 compression; 110 octane Sunoco race gas
tires: Avon Historic All-Weather
sphincter: tight enough to sharpen a pencil
This was a run I did about a year after I got my GT40. The speedo only goes to 200, but I hit a little over 7200 RPM on the tach and when I hold the car at 3600 RPMs the VBox says I'm going 104-105.
The car was still pulling pretty strong, but I ran out of tach. And road. And cojones, frankly. Going that fast on a public road and without a helmet is just dumb. I did it to get it over with. Haven't done it since.
I've replaced that Kaase motor with a less-exotic and easier-to-get-along-with Roush crate motor. Still plenty strong. At a steady 160 MPH the throttle is far enough from the floor that I can slip my left foot underneath it. It's got about the same power-to-weight ratio of a 1-liter sport bike with a 200-pound rider.
