I'm not positive as I'm unfamiliar with that motor's specific setup, but usually the e60/ e70 has one from the drivers side engine mount to the chassis.

Regardless, ground your alternator's body to the chassis and see if it helps. This can be done with a normal jumper cable. Clamp from one of the alternator's bolts to one of the bolts that goes through the core support into the chassis, or really anywhere that has conductivity to the chassis. If it starts after you'd made connection between the alternator bolts and the chassis, then your ground strap is shot.
