Also, it does matter how fast you shift, but it also matters WHEN you shift and from what gear to what gear. That's why on many tracks the manual can be just as good as the DCT (the manual is only 0.1 seconds slower than the DCT in 0-60 time). I read the DCT has some downshifting problems (it does not shift exactly when you want) and I also don't know if it is capable of double or triple downshifting.
Sure if you're a track guy downshifting makes a world of difference. For guys who only care about going fast in a straight line, all we care about is the inhumanly quick upshifts. Still curious about the N55 lag though. I should head down to the BMW dealer and test one out.
