The problem is that the N55 seems to be laggy and no gearbox can correct this. The conventional automatic may be the best suited to alleviate the lag because it can maintain the engine load between gearshifts. The DCT should be good too, but from the BMS reports, it doesn't quite help with the lag.
Also, it does matter how fast you shift, but it also matters WHEN you shift and from what gear to what gear. That's why on many tracks the manual can be just as good as the DCT (the manual is only 0.1 seconds slower than the DCT in 0-60 time). I read the DCT has some downshifting problems (it does not shift exactly when you want) and I also don't know if it is capable of double or triple downshifting.
