A gun doesnt have to be cleaned every single time you use it....particulary....ESPECIALLY if you regularly use the gun.

A handgun you use regularly or carry (ie depend on) DOES however require proper lubrication ESPECIALLY in the winter

If however you're shooting corrosive ammo then you need to clean that gun more or less immediately after shooting.....I recommend windex down the barrel/in chamber to neutralize the primer salts.....if its not a bolt action gun you'll need to pull apart the entire gas system and clean it too......unless you like rust/useless guns

People do more damage to guns while cleaning than doing anything else with them
