Yeah, I hear you, I don't actually like Toronto and would never consider living there, but its not bad. I'm out in the country, near Barrie, much nicer!

In the summer you should try to get out of the city - if you like nature, go do the treetop trekking at Horseshoe Valley resort (just tell them in advance you want to do the purple course (I think its purple, whatever was before black) - its a good course in the trees with a reasonable number of ziplines (albeit it short). You could try the black, but I've never done it...doesn't appear to be any ziplines...more just obstacles than anything else.

Or go up to Algonquin Park if you really want to get away.

Or go somewhat southwest to do a hike along the escarpment.

Lot of good places, and winter really isn't bad once you're here long enough...just take up some winter sports like skiing / snowmobiling and you'll enjoy that aspect too!
