There's no feedback like a well-sorted 2002tii driven at its limits, lifting wheels, and making the driver a better driver. And that goes for an E30 M3, too. I have fond memories of discovering that car—the very first we ever got—while driving it home the day it arrived. I'm happy to have had that experience and to remember it so clearly today. And yet every day I drive new BMWs as part of my job but it's the drive home in my 128i M-sport stick that puts a smile on my face. Different strokes.
I have a good friend who is a Porsche fanatic and he is an ardent believer that you cannot be a diehard or even truly appreciate your modern machines without starting at the beginning. You start by buying, or at least driving, the original and then work your way through the generations. This is the way.
