A LPVO will add a lot of weight, a few of my AR's have them and a few have Red Dots, the LPVO's add about 2 pounds if you get decent ones.
I think my 16" AR-15 with a Vortex PST 2 1-6 weighs a hair over 10 lbs.
Honestly I just sling it when I'm on a hot range doing drills with other guys and such (we are slung and shooting for a few hours). I'm not hand holding it for long periods
