It was the only closing that could pass as having a good theme and fitting the moral compass (i.e., ending the cycle/breaking the wheel).
Also, based on the track record of the characters, they all ended up where they were for a reason.
I will agree that it wasn't necessarily the best finale, or one that could even be called a "grand" finale, but it is what it is.
Does it leave questions unanswered?
Definitely.
What's the fate of Drogon & Dany's corpse?
Does Arya go on to discover America?
Perhaps there's room for spinoffs in the future.
