Yes you can remove it all and code everything and it works just fine (like a single hump car) but you lose a couple settings. You only have on/off for steering and throttle sport mode.
To set it you put the car in MDM, set everything how you want and then press and hold the M button. After 5-10 seconds the M icon in the dash will blink indicating your MDM settings are saved.
