I drove my rwd 228 m sport straight through the winter last year (snow tires)...the one thing that took a huge beating was the windshield from the constant salt/sand on the road. No matter how far you try to stay behind someone, another person always wants to jump between and spray you with sand.
We all know the winter we had last year, I didn't get stuck once, and didn't miss a single day of work with a 13mi commute each way...Not sure how much less ground clearance an m3/4 has though. Snow got up to my bumper pretty quickly.
