In my experience, the acceleration advantage of the 335i is minimized in rolling conditions. Once out of first gear, the G37 can stay in the upper part of it's power band (track conditions), that gap isn't there.

The caveat being that the G37 has a much narrower power band to work with and would require a better driver to take full advantage of it.
